Welcome back! I hope everyone had a nice break, but now it's time to get back to work. We are making some extreme modifications to our robot such as completely changing the end effector and the way the robot will pick up cones. This will be highly beneficial for the next challenge, which is this coming Friday.
In order to prepare for the next challenge, we completely took apart the robot. We have to pickup the mobile goal and move it into the scoring section. The front spot is worth 70 points and the back spot is worth 90 points. We also have the option of adding yellow cones to the mobile goal or tall goal to receive an extra 10 points each. This all has to been done in 30 seconds. Have a good Thanksgiving everyone... see you next week!
This is it... challenge day! We made some modifications to our robot, which will be evident in the attached SolidWorks pictures! Also, the rules for this challenge are different. On the moveable goals, each cone is worth 10 points and on the high goals, each cone is worth 20 points. Good luck everyone!
The robot is updated, complete and performing beautifully. We are continuing to practice in the arena and are able to pick up the cones. However, our goal for this week is to improve our efficiency in how fast our robot can pick up cones. We want to achieve as many points as possible while still maintaining accuracy and precision.
We are continuously working on improving our robot and making the claw better. The code is updated in conjunction with the changes made. Thus far, the claw is more efficient and will hopefully allow us to pick up cones a lot faster than before.
This week we need to work on making our robot more efficient since we have to pick up ten cones in one minute for the next challenge. We are working on changing the arm to be more stable and we are making the claw more straight-forward. Hopefully the code will be corrected and no ports or motor controllers malfunction.
We have made several modifications to our robot, hopefully for the better. Also, we are updating the program to meet the needs of our newly improved robot. Soon, we will begin practicing so we can do much better on the upcoming challenge. Keep up the awesome work team!
